Ultherapy

ULTHERAPY

Ultherapy® is a non-invasive way to lift and tighten the skin naturally without surgery. With precise ultrasound energy, Ultherapy® targets the deep structural layers of the skin without disrupting the skin’s surface. After treatment, the body’s tissue repair process stimulates the production of new collagen, creating a natural lifting effect. The safety and efficacy of Ultherapy® have been established through clinical studies and over 1.5 million treatments performed worldwide.

Ultherapy® is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the neck, chin and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the chest, without surgery or downtime.

Benefits

  1. Ulthera® is a non-invasive procedure.
The advanced treatment rejuvenates the skin without the need for surgery. Ulthera® is the only firming and tightening procedure using focused ultrasound technology.
  2. The treatment can be customized to the individual’s needs.
The ultrasound device allows our doctor to customize the treatment by adjusting the depth of energy as well as the length of treatment. Additionally, the procedure works very well when combined with resurfacing or injectable treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or Restylane®.
  3. No downtime is typically needed following the procedure.
While some people may experience mild redness or swelling immediately following their treatment, Ulthera® typically requires no downtime. This results from its non-invasive nature.
  4. Patients can achieve a natural-looking enhancement.
Ulthera® causes gradual tightening of the tissue through collagen stimulation, resulting in a very natural look. This can cause anti-aging results without the risks and healing issues related to surgery.
  5. Results are long-lasting.
While it generally takes about two to three months to see optimal results, patients will often continue to see improvement over time.

Before & After

Complications

You may experience a few complications after the treatment, but there is nothing to worry about as every procedure comes with some risks. The complications associated with Ultherapy are temporary and may include:

  1. Irritation
  2. Swelling
  3. Tenderness
  4. Tingling
  5. Numbness
  6. Bruising
  7. Redness

Preparation

  1. Avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after treatment.
  2. Apply your Ultra Sheer Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 50 after the treatment if you are planning on having incidental sun exposure.
  3. Avoid blood thinners and heavy alcohol 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  4. Avoid Botox at least 1 week prior to treatment.
  5. Avoid Dermal Fillers at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.
  6. You are not a candidate if you are pregnant.

Post Treatment Care

Typically, you may return to your normal activities after Ultherapy. Always follow the medical advice of the doctor regarding the care of your skin.

  1. Do not use any products containing Retin-A, Retinoids or vitamin A, strong exfoliating agents, bleaching creams or scrubs on the face for at least 3 days after your treatment or until the pinkish color has subsided.
  2. There may be temporary swelling on the face after Ultherapy treatment. Do not worry, it will not last long. To avoid the swelling, try to keep your head upwards or sleep on 2 pillows.
  3. You may observe mild tenderness or bruise around your jawline. If there is more momentous discoloration, then use the topical prescribed by the physician to minimize the bruising.
  4. Avoid direct sun exposure after the treatment for at least 2-3 days. Always use the sunscreen while going out and reapply it after every 2 hours if you have to stay longer in UV rays.
  5. Do not scratch or vigorously rub your skin after the Ultherapy treatment as skin is sensitive. Scratching the skin can cause rashes or scars.
  6. Avoid any other cosmetology procedure like Botox, dermal fillers etc. after 2 weeks of treatment.
  7. As there is collagen production in the skin after the penetration of ultrasound energy, there may be a tingling sensation or numbness for a few days after the treatment. No need to worry. It will resolve by itself.

FAQ

Ultherapy is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses focused ultrasound to stimulate the formation of new collagen deep below the skin’s surface.2-4 The production of new collagen takes time, so results can become more apparent over two to three months, even up to six months.3 The procedure takes about 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the area treated, and there is no downtime afterward. It also is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to actually see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most beneficial.

Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a facelift. Ultherapy is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post-treatment measures.

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

After your Ultherapy Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

Most patients only need one treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual’s collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

The FDA-cleared Ultherapy procedure has been used safely in over 250,000 treatments worldwide. Ultrasound energy has been used safely in the medical field for more than 50 years.
