Breast Augmentation

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast surgeries take place every single day, whether it’s to reconstruct after a mastectomy or for cosmetic purposes. Breast augmentation can help increase the fullness and projection of breasts, improve the balance of breast and hip contours, and enhance self-image as well as confidence.

There are many reasons one can undergo breast augmentation, but it’s important to know all you can about the process before you begin. First off, Breast augmentation sometimes referred to as a “breast aug” or “boob job” by patients, involves using breast implants or fat transfer to increase the size of your breasts.

This plastic surgery can also restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy, achieve a more rounded breast shape or improve natural breast size asymmetry.

FAQ

For many women, the size and shape of their breasts can cause unhappiness and insecurity. Breast augmentation can provide a safe and convenient solution, restoring confidence to thousands of women each year.

Whatever you’re personal reasons, Breast Augmentation at American Aesthetic Medical Center will provide the best doctor, leading techniques and facilities for your treatment. Our expert team is acutely aware that the appearance of your body can affect your confidence and everyday happiness, and as such we handle each case with sensitivity and discretion.

Our aim at The American Aesthetic Medical Center is to give you perfectly natural breasts. However, they have to be what you want. Sometime patients will say that they do not want to look natural! We will do our best after careful discussion to give you what you want.

Careful planning with you of the size and shape is essential and this is followed by a perfect technique. However, the implant alone may not be adequate. We may need to consider also carrying out a breast lift or mastopexy. Thin patients may need to have the implant put at a deeper level under the pectoral muscle to avoid sharp edges making the implant visible.

These days we often need to disguise these edges with fat grafts (Lipofilling). This is such a useful technique for final adjustments.

In the long term, breast implants are unlikely to affect range of motion, muscle strength or other physical abilities.

Recovery times for breast augmentation vary considerably, however most of Dr. Hamid’s patients return to the majority of their normal activities 48 to 72 hours after surgery. Dr. Hamid will discuss this in further detail with you at your first consultation.

Breast implants do not need to be replaced after 10 years or any other specific time period. Although the exact source of this statement is uncertain, this is a myth possibly related to the fact that some models of older implants carried warranties which lasted only 10 years.

The size of implants you choose depends on a number of factors, including your ultimate appearance goals and your individual frame. Just as the same bra or even a T-shirt may fit different individuals completely differently according to their chest size and shape, the same size implant may look completely different from patient to patient. During the consultation the implant size and placement will be carefully chosen to fit each patient individually.

The chance of losing nipple sensation, or sensitivity, after breast augmentation is present but it is quite low. Overall, the chance of losing sensation in one or the other nipple is several percent.

It varies from one patient to another. Desk job can be resumed in 4 or 5 days if there are more physical activities then a week to ten days is a reasonable amount of time.

Walking can begin in one week, lower body exercises like biking, riding in about two weeks. Swimming and upper body exercise in one month.
