Breast Reduction

What is Breast Reduction?

If you have large breasts you have probably experienced many limitations to activities you would otherwise enjoy. The simple act of running, jumping, and even walking can cause intense back and neck pain for women with very large, pendulous breasts. A breast reduction is a surgical procedure to decrease the size of your breasts by removing fat, glandular tissue, and skin. The results are smaller, lighter, firmer and shapelier breasts in proportion with the rest of your body.

Swelling is also common following surgery, and a special support bra should be worn continuously, night and day, for the first few weeks.

There is no way to perform a breast reduction without leaving a scar. However, the scars may be hidden by clothing and even bikinis. Patients should be able to wear very low-cut clothing without any scar showing. Over time, scars typically fade to become barely noticeable. Most women consider breast reduction scars to be minimal compared to the trade-off of feeling positive about their results.
